Animal Rescue

An animal rescue organization is the kind of company you want to keep. Not an official shelter, animal rescues sometimes focus on particular kind of animal or breed that is in need of help. For example, there are organizations in Denver, Colorado that specifically cater to rescuing greyhounds that retire from the race tracks there. Other animal rescue organizations may focus on rabbits or ferrets, and still others may have a soft spot for Siamese cats. Some animal rescue groups are as small as a husband and wife, and three or four of their closest friends, while an animal rescue fund in Muncie, Indiana may have as many as 100 dedicated volunteers that actually form a number of animal rescue leagues.

Making their presence known on the ‘Net, the animal rescue site of a Michigan animal rescue organization or also a Des Moines animal rescue group will alert the general public to a host of adoptable animals that are waiting for a good human companion. Yet what all of these animal rescue groups have in common is their need for more helpers. Obviously, not everyone will be able to be a dedicated animal rescue volunteer and visit a host of regular shelters in an effort to take out the animals that are scheduled for euthanasia that day. Similarly, not everyone is willing and able to bankroll an animal rescue group – even if it is only a few cages in someone’s basement – or an entire animal rescue foundation that has facility needs.

Yet everyone can help animal rescue groups by spreading the word and dissuading friends and family from purchasing a dog or cat from a story and instead visiting Georgia animal rescue groups or picking an animal from an animal rescue site. Quite often these adoptable animals will come with a free veterinary check up – many vets are doing their parts by donating their time to the these groups and thus the free vet visit will quite often sweeten the deal for a prospective pet adopter – but some may still need to be groomed. This grooming is sometimes donated by volunteers who might come to the grounds of the Contra Costa County animal rescue group and other times it takes volunteers to transport the animals to other volunteers who donate their time and materials to animal rescue shelters and will groom and make the future pets presentable free of charge.

Even if your ability to help animal rescue groups in MA is virtually non-existent, a bag of dog food picked up at the store and delivered to a rescue group is much appreciated; cat litter will be taken off your hands enthusiastically, and cat toys, dog collars, or anything else related to pets will be worthwhile to a rescue group.
