Alpo

Alpo is quite possibly known to almost anyone who owns a dog or cat. Alpo dog food is one of the most popular kinds of pet food brands that are being sold at grocery stores and other outlets and Sunday papers quite frequently feature Alpo coupons for dog food that may be clipped and redeemed for a few cents off the sales price. While Alpo dog food coupons are greatly coveted by the dog loving community, it is interesting to note that Alpo is actually being manufactured by Purina, a company that sells its own brand as well as a host of others.

In the pet lover community Purina, and by extension Alpo, is sometimes viewed with a bit of suspicion, since so many different kinds of feed are being sent out from that factory, yet when checking over the list of ingredients that are part and parcel of the kibbles, the soft feed, as well as the canned feed, you will quickly see that your concern is unwarranted simply because Alpo is indeed manufactured following its own formula.

Since many pet owners are a bit confused by the wide variety of pet food brands that have flooded the market, Alpo has landed two great spokes people, namely Ed McMahon and Lorne Greene. The latter is of course everyone’s favorite pa from the long running and quite popular Western series “Bonanza” where he portrayed the no nonsense, strict but fair patriarch of a group of sometimes unruly boys who had a knack for getting into trouble. Ed McMahon, of course, is welcomed at anyone’s front door, especially if he is carrying a large check with a lot of zeros behind the comma. Being a daily commodity on national television, he has been an actor, game show host, and Johnny Carson sidekick.

With such ringing endorsements, it is not surprising that coupons for Alpo dog food were highly valued and to this day those who looked for the ringing endorsements of these two television greats are still feeding Alpo cat food and Alpo dog treats to their pets. Their children, by now grown up, probably remember the Alpo logo picture clip art and thus when they are acquiring their own pets, they are sure to not necessarily read the list of ingredients in Alpo dog food but instead to go for the tried and true label that is so familiar to them.
